Terms of Use

In short: Cinna is open-source software provided free of charge and “as is.” You are responsible for the third-party services, model providers, and CinnaCore instances you connect, and for any costs or content involved. We provide no warranty and limit our liability to the extent the law allows.

These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern your use of the Cinna software — Cinna Core (the self-hosted agent platform), Cinna Desktop, and Cinna Mobile (together, the “Software”; the desktop and mobile clients together, the “Apps”) — published by the open Cinna project (“OpenCinna”, the “Project”, “we”, “us”). By using the Software, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.

For Cinna Mobile on iOS, these Terms supplement Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA), which also applies to your use of that app. Where these Terms and the standard EULA conflict on a point the EULA addresses, the EULA controls for that point.

1. License

Cinna is open-source software. Your use of the Software is subject to the applicable open-source license(s) for the Cinna project, available in the project’s source repositories. Subject to those licenses and these Terms, you are granted a personal, non-exclusive, revocable right to use the Software on devices you own or control.

2. Your responsibilities

Cinna lets you build and run your own AI agents. You are responsible for:

The third-party services you connect — including AI model providers (such as Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google), MCP services and tools, and any backends or servers — and for complying with their terms.
The API keys, credentials, configuration, and content you provide, and for keeping your credentials secure.
Any fees or charges those third-party providers bill you for their usage. The Software is free; the services you connect may not be.
The agents, prompts, automations, and outputs you create and run, and ensuring your use complies with applicable laws.

3. CinnaCore instances and CinnaAccount

A “CinnaAccount” is an account on a particular CinnaCore instance, and that instance is controlled and operated by its hoster — which may be you or a third party — not by the OpenCinna project. The Project does not operate these instances, has no access to their data or accounts, and is not responsible for them. Any agreement, support request, or dispute about a specific CinnaCore instance is between you and that instance’s operator (hoster). For questions or complaints about an instance, contact its hoster — not OpenCinna.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Software to:

Violate any applicable law or regulation, or infringe the rights of others.
Generate or distribute unlawful, harmful, or abusive content.
Attempt to disrupt, compromise, or gain unauthorized access to any system, service, or instance you are not authorized to use.
Misuse third-party services in breach of their terms.

5. AI-generated output

Cinna lets you interact with third-party AI models. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your purpose, and is generated by the providers you connect — not by us. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any output before relying on it.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

The Software is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any third-party service you connect will be available or perform as expected.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Project and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, or business, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Software or any connected third-party service — even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Because the Software is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Software is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Software (which is zero) or the minimum amount required by applicable law.

8. Changes to the Software and these Terms

We may update, change, or discontinue the Software at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time; when we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Software after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable where the Project operates, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except where mandatory local consumer-protection laws provide otherwise.
